At its concerts in the New Town Hall, the Association of Friends of Musical Talents presents the winners of prestigious international competitions and the best Czech and international singers of the young generation. This time we will present two soloists of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich

The rising American soprano Emily Pogorelc is considered as one of the most gifted singers of her generation. An alumna of Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Emily made her celebrated debut as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro during the 2021 summer opera festival in Munich. In the 2021/2022 season, she returns to Munich as Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Musetta in La bohème, and Inez in Il trovatore, and she will sing Cherubino at the Glyndebourne Festival. In concert, she will perform Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Bertrand de Billy, among others.

The bass baritone Boris Prýgl and pianist Ahmad Hedar are our old friends from many of the previous Nachtigall Artists concerts. Boris Prýgl ranks among the most talented Czech young singers. In the 2021/22 season, apart from his engagements in Munich, he will assume the roles of Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at the National Theatre in Prague and Don Giovanni at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, a concert with Pretty Yende at the Smetana Hall in Prague, Dvořák’s Rusalka (Gamekeeper) with the Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Semyon Bychkov and others.

Both singers will be accompanied by pianist Ahmad Hedar, a sought-after piano partner of many singers and a winner of the award for excellent piano accompaniment at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary.
