Academic painter Ivan Brtna graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, a studio of applied and monumental painting.

He devoted himself to painting, drawing, applied graphics, illustration, realization in architecture, and 34 years of pedagogical activities at the Václav Hollar Art School in Prague.

Since 1971 he has had a number of independent exhibitions in Bohemia and abroad, many times he has participated in joint exhibitions.

The basis of each of his images is space, carefully constructed and modeled from geometric elements. He has put elements connected with reality into this space. Color is important in his paintings. His painting drawings, which he called calligraphy, play a significant role in his work, because he reminds him of the decoration.

He died prematurely at the age of 68. This year he would have been celebrating his 70th birthday. That is why this exhibition is taking place now.
